After I saw the movie I read a lot about Frank Lucas, and apparently the real him–the actual gangster–was a lot more rough and touble than in the movie. Without giving anything away, the Denzel Washington is very smooth, sophisticated and polished, and apparently the real Frank Lucas was essentially illiterate–and a lot more violently ruthless.
