It?s about that time again, so here?s where I stand in regard to the Finders Keepers manuscript, my quest to land an agent, and some new projects:

* I?ll be heading out to the San Diego Comic-con in two weeks, a trip that came about quite unexpectedly. My good friend and sometimes writing partner-in-crime Rich Henn (www.timespell.com) is going out there to shop his comic-book project, Zoomies, and the comic book we wrote together, Timespell, in the hopes of landing a deal with a Hollywood agent for a TV/cable show and/or movie project. (We?ll also be out there with fellow comics dude Rich Koslowski – www.richkoslowski.com).
So now that I?m heading out there, too, I spent the last three weeks giving Finders Keepers and slight revise?no major work, just some pruning. A little tweak here, a little cut there. But it was tough, tedious work that took some doing. I?m thrilled that I did it, though, as Finders Keepers has never read better. And because Rich (Henn, that is) works at a printing press, he?s helping me out with some new business cards and getting me about a dozen copies of Finders Keepers printed up real snazzy-like so that I can shop them around ac Comic-con, too. Hey. You never know.
* As for the agent search, I?m back at it again, getting up at 6 a.m. most days, pumping out that revised query I put together a while back. I had a good session today?got four letters done?and my goal is to get at least 25 total in the mail by the end of July, and 50 total by the end of August. After that, I have a few other avenues to pursue, but I?ll fill you in on those as I get closer.
* Last but not least, I?ll be starting book No. 2?with the working title of Crossline?no later than September 1, I but my hope is start mid-August. I?ve got tons of notes to review, and so I need to spend a little time going through them and planning before I start to write. But once I do, I?m going whole hog, with the hopes of banging out the entire first draft in 6 months. I?m not sure if I can pull it off, but I?ll give it my all.
That?s about it for now. Hope you?re having a great summer so far.
And as always, I?ll keep you posted.
